How 'interesting' that Hollywood is intending to movies on the Iraq War? Or should I say cashing in on the Iraq War. They claim that this tirade of movies will not be the propaganda types that the world has seen in the previous war and I guess that they mean that this will be more in line with the general movie paying publics' perspective.
Alright, I give it to them about trying to cash in on this lucrative market because considering the supposed anti-war sentiment over there, it seems rather dumb to make a propaganda one anyway. However, I find it funny (but than again, it is very much in line with what the general American public would want to watch) that the gist of the show is very much about their own troops and how much they are suffering.
So that is the 'true' side of the war that is kept away from the American public. Yes, the Iraq War is fairly censored with most troop casualties been held close to the Pentagon and much information out is, as expected, censored. But what I would really like and dare Hollywood to show is the suffering of the Iraqis under the American forces. You want to show the true side of the war? Why not also have shows dedicated to the suffering of the Iraqis? I would like to see 'anti-war' actors play the lead role of an Iraqi suffering under the soldiers.
They want a rough storyline of a story? How about showing about following the story of this girl and how she lived during Saddam's time and than during the occupation? They show can end with the girl being gang raped by the American soldiers. That should fill the sex bit needed in Hollywood shows? Oh yes, there is still the need for violence. That can be covered either by the bashing down and ransacking of homes of many Iraqis and the killing of the whole girl's family. What is the best part of this story? The movie can begin with the following words 'based on a true event' and end with the soldiers being convicted.
The whole Middle East plan that the Americans have is really weird and personally amusing. In order to bring peace to the Middle East, US is giving Israel US$40 billion over 10 years to spend arming themselves. Countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt will also be given billions to arm themselves. So its like the Cold War where countries (aka US and USSR) were spending billions arming themselves to the teeth so that neither side would think of attacking each other.
This whole thing just goes to show how much power a real superpower has. Think about this, why is Iran and Syria seen as part of the Axis of Evil and part of the reason for global terrorism when the supposed reason for the war against terror began as a result of September 11 and Al-Qaida? If you look back the start of the longest game of hide and seek ever played in world history, the hijackers were mainly Saudis and Osama bin Ladin himself was a Saudi national. His amassed wealth is also more than likely be Saudi money. So why than is Saudi Arabia not listed as a terrorist state? I forgot, they are allies with the US.
Back to the US$40 billion. How you wonder sometimes how lovely if just one per cent of it was being distributed to help combat poverty in Africa and improving the living conditions of so many other Third World countries. If you think about it, one per cent of US40 billion works out to be US$400 million and how much that can help so many others (especially if you believe all those world care commercials).
