When people say that time flies, it somehow does not really struck much of a cord until lately. Been looking at some of the photos that I took with the bros and reality somewhat struck. Man, it has been so long since we all met up. Goodness knows when will be the next time that six of us will be able to meet up again.
I guess the nostalgia was also the result of chatting with Elwin and looking at Wil's site. Oh yes, it does not help also that whenever I enter a liquor store, the good times we had all just come flashing back. Somehow or other, I will always walk towards the hard liquor section; maybe it is a way if reminiscing the yesteryear (well, it did seem a long time back). Ahhh... the days of gin, tequila, JD and the list just goes on.
They say that alcohol is a form of escapism, but in this case, it is a form of recollection. If the alcohol is the visual stimulation for recall, the sound of mahjong will be the audio stimulation. Though the occasions that I get to hear people play mahjong are rare since I moved, the odd occasion I do get to hear it also remind me of the nights at Elwin's place. Drinking beer is no longer the same now too without the bros (wonder why our lives seem to revolve around booze... hmmm...). Think the nights of mahjong and booze will always be etched in my mind.
A big disappointment during my last trip back was that I did not get the chance to meet up with the bros and I feel really bad about it. So to the bros reading this post, I am so sorry that I did not get the chance to meet up with you guys. I really wanted to but I had really too little time as I had some stuff to settle here and there.
Anyway, I count myself very lucky to be blessed with this friendship as I can vouch that these guys are the best friends any guy can have. Yes, I know that it is cliche again, but these guys are awesome. Through every point in my life, through the ups and downs, they have been there and I really appreciate and am grateful for that. It is really wonderful to know that even after not meeting them for a long period of time, the bond between us will never change.
The words on the bros page says it all; "The Bros belong to a group of friends who have gone through the ups and downs of each others' life and have helped each other through each phase". Thanks bros.
