blue and white dream

Having had lectures for three weeks or so, I must say that the notion that Aussies are lazy is certainly not true. All my lectures have started on time and that's because the students are mostly on time. And when I say mostly, I mean over 95%. Bysay five to ten minutes before lecture commence, they're already there. They also come very prepared for the tutourials with them all reading the required readings and more.

Yes, I have to agree that the shops here closes very early but what people do not see is that they start business early too. Don't be surprised to see food courts open before 8am. In fact, by the time you reach at say 8am, you'll can be assured of a decent breakfast without needing for them to open the stalls. The people here work hard too. Take for example the shopping centres. The cashiers here in bigger stores double as salesgirls etc too. So when there's not many people waiting to pay, they'll actually be like arranging stuff etc with of course one cashier on standby. When the queue gets a little longer, the cashier will ask for extra cashier.

As I was coming back from the hardware mart today, it suddenly struck me that maybe I can take up capentry or metal work as a hobby here. I'm not kidding, this place is so DIY that they basically sell anything. You enter those bigger hardware stores and you'll probably have all the materials to built your own house. The hardware stores here sell really cool items. You name it, they have it. The amount of wood you can buy from there too is quite amazing too. Only problem is that transporting some of the items will prove to be a bitch. So maybe metal work might be a better option. Maybe I can make some lamp shades or something like that. Afterall, Spotlight is just next doorand they sell really cheap clothe; about $2 a metre.
