Realisation

Though I spent the most half of yesterday at home, man, had a good time chatting with Jean. That girl really set me thinking again, but really enjoyed chatting with her. It was like a self discovery deja vu. Haha, maybe self discovery is an over kill term, but she really made me rethink of what has happened all this while. I really think that's her gift, she's just able to make a person feel so at ease and basically confide in her. Yes, Jean, if you are reading this, I so damn agree that you got this "tell-me-all" aura around you.

Realised that the world is just so small, she actually knows my Godsis from school despite my Godsis being her snr and having such a low profile. Ok, Singapore is small, but don't know why I saw it quite interesting.

Interestingly too is that Jean and I have much in common. We share much of the same interest and our thinking is relatively similar. Maybe that's why we both could hit off so well. O well, I'm not complaining. Great to have such a friend.

Pasta Mania

Went to the one with Elwin and Joseph for dinner and must thank them for the treat. Been quite a while since I last caught up with them and had a really good time catching up with them. As we sat on the steps outside of Bishan MRT station, I could not help but think how much J8 had changed. Maybe we've changed too. What maybe, yes we have changed, but sitting back and looking at the change was quite remarkable. Been going to J8 since secondary school so seeing it change so much has been... don't know what to say man. It was just different. It is no longer the same J8 anymore. As Joseph pointed out, even Base has moved.

We kinda decided that maybe we should have another boozie night. Been quite a while since we had one so maybe it would great if we could have one on Christmas eve. So guys, let me know if you all are interested k.

At last, a show

Yes, no idea when was the last time I actually caught a show so was and finally I managed to catch a show today. Caught Wimbeldon! Haha, yes, it may not be the most happening show around but screw it lah. I totally enjoyed it, no not because of Kirsten Dunst and its definitely not for Paul Bettany! Haha. Guess I watched it because its Wimbledon. Been watching it since don't know when, maybe it was the late 80s or early 90s, but among all the Grand Slams, think Wimbledon has always had me in awe. I'm sure many people in this world will actually agree with me that Wimbledon is probably the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world. I may be bias on this though.

Well, Wimbledon has probably captured the hearts of many tennis fans throughout the years. Just think of this, there was the rivalry between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe in the late 70s and early 80s. In the 90s, there was the dominance of the one and only Pete Sampras. If my memory serves me right, Andre Agassi's first Grand Slam victory was in the lawns of Centre Court too. His opponent than was Goran Ivanisevic. Yes, that was in 92 and nine years later Ivanisevic himself was a winner, but he did it in a way that no one expected. I still remember that year's final. It was a fairytale. Here we have a player in the twilight of his tennis career, a journeyman, a player who broke as many hearts as he won them. A player who entered the tournament as wild card and went on to win the tournament? Sounds familiar? Ivanisevic too was ranked in the 100s and got the wild card out of goodwill. But boy did he showed the world what was left in that injury wrecked body of his. His opponent in that final? Another player who the crowd loved, Pat Rafter.

Pat Rafter himself was another heartbreaker. Injury was unkind to him in a huge way. He definitely never played up to his expectations cos of injury, but there's something about Pat. He will play through the match even if it means in pain. He would rather play than retire from the match simply because he wants his opponent to have the satisfaction of beating Pat Rafter in a match and not due to injury. He did not want to take the shine of his opponent's glory. Stupid some may say, but I think that's total humility.

Ok, I've digressed. Yup. It's amazing that I could kind of feel the anxiety of the crowd. It was realistic in the sense that the Brits will probably be reacting exactly the way they did in the show had a Brit been in the final. Haha. This is simply think they do not have had a male Brit champion since Fred Perry in the 30s. Haha.

Great also to see the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club being so opened about their grounds. They gave complete access to the grounds for the shoot. What's so surprising about that? Well, its from a club who would fire the contractor if any of their machinery touches a sinle blade of grass. Yes, that's how anal they are about the lawns. Initially I thought that they didn't use the Centre Court for the shoot cos it seemed much smaller on screen. Thought they used Court 1 instead.

Man, that show made me realised how much I relly missed tennis. Don't know why I stop playing it actually. I still hope to be able to play on the four Grand Slam surfaces. I've sadly only played on two of them. One that must really try is to play on clay! Must understand why Pete Sampras has problems on it. Haha. Ok, it sounds himbo, but hey!
