Polar bears. Yup, was watching Animal Planet this morning and was touched by the documentry on polar bear. Man, the cubs there were so sweet and all. You could almost see their future in their eyes and hope the eyes of their mothers. Nature is just so beautiful and funny. These darlings are actually top predators. Born so innocent by built for the kill. Meek and weak they seem but they are born to endure the coldest nature has to offer. Despite that all, they still remain to lovable. Caught also Lion King. Still love that movie after so long. It's one of the best I guess from Disney. Yea!
Went to MacRitchie earlier too to get some photos for my feature and must say that the area nearer to the water works is simply beautiful too. There is now a watch tower, yes Elwin, Jelutong Towers. From there, the view was just wow. Seeing the rising sun and feeling the warmth of it on your face is just so refreshing. Few things can beat the warmth of nature. Despite the place been so ulu, there were quite a number of people there. Saw Police's Media person DSP Philip Mah, Minister Yacob Ibrahim and family and also former CDF LG Lim Chuan Poh. Saw also Cat High students training for cross country. There were also groups of nature lovers armed with their super huge cameras and binos searching the trees for birds and other wildlife. What was the most spectcular thing from the watch tower? Got to be the body of water afar. Seems so out of Singapore. Around the area, there's going to be a tree top walk too and can't wait for it to be ready. Singapore's nature scene is getting more and more vibrant. This is the way to go man!
Man U back to their best? Well, their performance last night was quite impressive though they needed lat goals to put the game beyond doubt but this is just one match. Hope they can continue this level of play. Juve, again disappointing me with a lousy 0-0 draw. Milan is pulling further ahead with a 3-1 win over the once mighty Parma. Maldini is still to me, the most elegant defender. No shame to Juve if Milan can win a League and Champions League double. Maldini fully deserves it. Absolutely.

Was at Sungei Buloh yesterday and boy, that place is really therapeutic. Nature was just around and the sight of the feeding birds was just so soothing. Ok, there were not so many birds yesterday but the feel was still there. It rained a while and took shelter under a viewing shed and watching the rain drops had also a very calming effect. Seeing birds start coming out when it rain to feed, than flying off when it got really heavy was quite interesting. The bridges they had they were a good place to walk through too. Sad though was that despite being so secluded, there was still litter in some of the mangroves. Sheesh, that's why sometimes I'm quite against opening up some nature site to the public. People come and they will leave behind some of their waste. Why can't these fools learn to bring their rubbish out with them? Nature is not their rubbish bin. How would they like it if we go to their house and throw our rubbish on their floors etc. On a nicer note, it was also nice to see parents bringing their children there. It's really a place like no other and I feel that parents should really bring their children there to let them see the wonders of nature. A place where the birds can really soar to the highest their wings can bring them. Birds are also not all that Sungei Buloh can offer. Monitor lizards too are a plenty there. You maybe wondering what so nice about them. Well, if you see them in their natural habitat walking from the land to water and moving so gracefully, you'll understand why. Even the mud there is filled with life. Mudskippers, hermit crabs, crabs etc are all beneath the surface. Look carefully and you'll probably see them surfacing occasionally. The water beside the bridge connecting Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and the entrance is filled with Archer fish. Yes, that fish we read about in our primary school science book that has the ability to shoot water in order to knock its prey into the water. Talked to a group of China tourist and they were surprised to see a local there. They had this impression that locals will not visit the place. Interesting observation and comments.
The farms near Sungei Buloh too were interesting. It's amazing how often I go around there and still not get bored of the place. Haha. Again, it was nice to see families there. Families with children mostly at most primary four. Will consider these children lucky as their parents still view the importance of such areas to their children's education. Singapore is more than just a concrete jungle. We do have goat, cow, chicken, vegetable, fish etc farms. It will really be a shame to visit the farms and nature parks all over the world but not the ones at home. Moreover, these places are really cheap and fulfilling places to go. The only downside is that it will certainly be more convinient to drive if you intend to farm hop. They are relatively within walking distance but driving will certainly be more convinient.
Met Theresa on Saturday. Been so long since I last saw her, think got about a year or even more. So was really glad to meet her on the way to church and attended mass with her. She's going to try get her Master's again, really hope that she'llbe accepted this time. Really don't know why she got rejected the first time round. She got real good grades in uni and have work experience but still not accepted. Maybe those people who cannot find jobs are taking the opportunity to upgrade themselves. The most interesting part was that my church was having this marriage encounter thingy and one of the people came up to us to ask if we wanted to participate. I could not help but laugh. This is the second time we've been mistaken for a couple. First time was Marina Square, we walked past this bridal shop and the owner suddenly came out to ask us if we were getting married. Harlow! We have quite a big age gap! She's quite a few years older than me! Haha.
The three teams I support in soccer disappointed in the past week. Juve and Man both got knocked out of the Champions League. Nevermind that, they both got humilated on Sunday. Man U got whipped by Man City 4-1. Felt that the scoreline was a bit harsh but Man U really got no one else to blame but themselves. Who ask them to be so fragile in defence? Wes Brown may be one of the biggest culprits but soccer is a team sport. You got to attack and defend as a team. The problem also is that they are not scoring, say if they lost 4-3 than I've got nothing much to say, but the fact that they only scored one says quite a bit. Look a yesterday's team for example, they really do not have much of a world class team on display. Wes Brown is not exactly the kind of defender that teams desire and yearn for, he probably will not be able to break into England's first team for some time to come. He's not another Steve Bruce in the making where after a career, the world wonders why a player of Steve Bruce quality has never represented his country. John O'Shea, so talented last season but can't seem to find that form that made him such a sensation. Christiano Ronaldo, he maybe the only shining star yesterday but he still has to prove his full ability. A world class player in the making but not quite there yet. Darren Fletcher, he may even struggle to regularly start at Home United, Yes, that's how sucky I feel he is. Shows only signs and moments of brilliance but that is certainly not enough to justify playing for Man U or any top club in the EPL. The truth is that had he been in another other club, he might be playing only in the reserves. If he continues with his current form and does not buck up, he may find himself playing in Divison Two or Three. Gone were the days he played so well and was considered the future of Scotland. Had he not played for Scotland, think he will make a good candidate for Singapore's Foreign Talent Programme. He probably stand a chance of removing Ahmad Latiff from starting for the Lions. Possibly only, that is assuming Ahmad Latiff decides to be a monkey again.
Juve another disappointment. Looks like they will really end the season with nothing at all. At most Coppa Italia. Their defence really need a big overhaul! Ferrera is really getting a bit too old to sustain the fast pace game. I'm still admire him but he really should let the younger players take over him. Actually they have a readymade centreback in Thuram. Make him happy and play him in centre of defence. He's been complaining that Juve is not playing him to the best and though I do agree that he is an excellent right back too but at this point, I think Juve needs him more as a centre back. he deserves to be given the chance. Chance is too rude a word to use on Thuram, he should be allowed to play as a centreback. He has all the qualities to play there. Parma played him there good results.
The other team that disappointed me is Tanjong Pagar. Two matches, lost two, scored one and conceded seven. Glad that Boucher scored though. Got high hopes for him. Yes, he maybe 37 now but I think he can score double digits this season. Not expecting much from Tanjong Pagar anymore. Will be good if they can finish outside of the bottom three.
Anyway, despite the three disppointing clubs as I will put it, I will still continue to support them. Come on, even if they ever get relegated, I'll still support them! Silver lining for soccer in the weekend, Roberto Baggio scoring his 200th Serie A goal. Like Soccernet's description of the 2-2 draw between Parma and Brescia.
"Baggio, who is now 37 years old and likely to retire at the end of the season, fired home with 17 minutes remaining to frustrate the home side who would have climbed to fourth place with a win.
The goal was another landmark moment in the career of one of Italy's favourite sporting sons.
Indeed, the respect in which Baggio is held throughout the country was best demonstrated by the applause offered to him by the Parma fans who overcame their own disappointment by saluting the former Italy international following his equaliser.
If Parma thought they had done enough to secure all three points they had not counted on Baggio showing the kind of ability which has characterised his long and illustrious career.
Baggio, who continues to sport the same hairstyle which led to him being given the nickname `The Divine Ponytail', still had much to do when he picked up the ball in the 73rd minute.
But a swift turn past Matteo Ferrari was then followed by a wonderfully crisp finish with his left foot.
Parma could have won it late on when Marchionni's shot hit the post and ran tantalisingly across the goal line.
But that would have been cruel on Brescia and, in particular, their talismanic striker."
